Anesthesiology - Abstract: Volume 101(5) November 2004 p 1160-1166 Intravenous Emulsified Halogenated Anesthetics Produce Acute and Delayed Preconditioning against Myocardial Infarction in Rabbits.
これにはびっくりしました。麻酔薬による"preconditioning"の論文は素人が解析したようないかがわしいものが多いのですが、この論文くらいになると突き抜けた発想に敬意を表したくなります。揮発性麻酔薬を脂質に封じ込めemulsionにして静脈内に投与すると、麻酔薬を吸入させたときに観察されるのと同様の臓器、この研究の場合心臓の保護作用が観察されるという論文です。詳しく読むと結構興味深い論文なのですがまず思うことは”本当かいな”ということです。でもなかなかいい発想です。別の実験に応用できるのではないかと思っています。
局所麻酔薬のリドカインがroot ganglion由来の細胞の細胞死を引き起こす過程にはcaspaseの活性化やcytochome Cの放出、ミトコンドリアの電位の低下などapoptosisに特徴的ないくつかの現象を伴うという報告です。
たくさんfigureがある割には情報量はそう多くないですが要点は押さえてあると思います。少なくとも死んでいるだけなのに受容体からのシグナルが入らない故の増殖抑制であるといっためちゃくちゃな議論はありません。でもこれだけのことを言いたいのならもっとエレガントな実験系があるしこれだけのことが出来る体制にあるのならもっと調べるべきことはあると思います。残念。

A significant fact about general anesthetics is the great diversity of their chemical structure. As the mechanism of general anesthesia goes through perturbation of intermolecular interactions, a variety of the latter can be involved. They must be weak, so that anesthesia is reversible. Such weak bonds are weak hydrogen bonds or associations by van der Waals forces. These could be temporarily and reversibly replaced by anesthetics.
